Your Camp Counselors in 2020

Vanessa Hamilton E-RYT 200, RYT 500, YACEP

Vanessa is our head camp counselor and will be your lead for both the Spring and Fall 2020 retreats!

Although Vanessa took and taught yoga for years through her gym and Karate studio, it wasn't until after the birth of her second child that she committed to a 200 hour teacher training program in early 2015. That experience re-kindled her lifelong love of learning, and she quickly jumped into several more trainings. Vanessa went on to complete her RYT-500 in the Spring of 2018. Her enthusiasm for self-study and continuous learning has inspired Vanessa to found Camp Anahata.

An early introduction to the natural world through Girl Scouts ignited Vanessa's passion for hiking, outdoor sports and simply being in nature. It wasn't until her first trip to Yosemite in 2016 that Vanessa realized this was the perfect forum to tap into the beautiful energy of the world around us, and the perfect setting for her first Camp Anahata retreats!

Vanessa cannot wait to spend time with you in this epic and magical space, to tap into a deeper level of self understanding and, of course, to simply have a great time!

Whitney Riggs E-RYT 200, YACEP

We are so excited to welcome Whitney as our guest Camp Counselor for the second Fall 2020 Retreat (9/17-9/21 Postponed from Spring)!!

Whitney loves creating connection through movement & experiences that empower women (and men) to be brave!

Whitney has always been passionate about movement as expression through dance, yoga and grounding in nature.

After she completed her 200 hour teacher training in 2015, Whitney quickly started teaching yoga and has been ever since, both in San Diego and on the shoreline of Connecticut. Additionally, Whitney has an expansive background as a wellness and lifestyle coach and has a passion for clean eating, nutrition and other practices that lead to a healthier life!

Whitney loves sharing energy through both Reiki and Meditation and will be sharing her experience with both, as well as her love of Yin Yoga with our Spring 2020 Campers!

Laurel del Camino E-RYT 200, NASM-CPT, Yoga Therapist, YACEP

Laurel is happiest when she's connecting with her body and calming her mind but she also likes to show people how to move. For her, the world is too full of those of us who can't stop to catch a breach. We need more fearless warriors.

Laurel has taught dozens of motivated instructors to-be how to be their best selves in their pursuit of teaching and the practice of yoga.. Now her mission is to keep learning, growing, sharing and teaching!

In our Fall 2020 retreat, Laurel will be tapping into her expertise in Aryuveda, Yin Yoga and Meditation to bring some specialized workshops and classes to the schedule. Additionally, her work as a Yoga Therapist contributes to a deep understanding of physical movement and anatomy, a skill which permeates her teaching!

We cannot wait to have her with us this Fall (9/10-9/14), and she is looking forward to making new connections with our Fall 2020 Campers!

Continuing Education

As YACEP and E-RYT 200 Certified Yogis, Camp Anahata Councellors are able to offer continuing education credits for your Yoga Alliance Certificate. Each 5 day/4 night Camp Anahata retreat inculdes between 10-15 Contact Hours of Continuing Education Credit. Contact hours are important, because of the 30 hours CE you are required to complete each 3 years to maintain your RYT 200 or RYT 500 certification, 10 of those hours must be contact hours. Your Camp Anahata retreat will meet or exceed that requirement!
